Seattle Sights, Sounds and Hotels
Pioneer Park in Seattle was the site of the original business district and where Henry Yesler’s pier and sawmill stood. Many of the wood-frame buildings were razed in 1889 in a fire that swept through the area, now known as Pioneer Square. Residents reconstructed the buildings in brick and mortar but the area suffered decline during and after the Depression until 1970, when buildings were restored and the place was given a facelift. The area retains it historical quality with the older saloons that still stand.
Seattle's Pioneer Square is but one of the many fascinating sites and sounds of Seattle. Relax and enjoy the hospitality of the marvellous Seattle Hotels.
